Since its announcement, little has been revealed about the upcoming "Star Wars Episode 7." Early rumors have indicated that the movie would follow the events of "Return of the Jedi" with the return of the older cast. A recent article seems to validate these claims.

In a recent Reuters article on a Mayan temple, writer Mike McDonald dropped some hints on the location's potential link to the new trilogy. McDonald writers, "Yavin 4 and the rebel base return to the Star Wars plot in the forthcoming Episode VII, announced in October by the Walt Disney Co, in which [Luke] Skywalker comes back to the planet to build a Jedi Knight academy. However, fans said that Disney will likely film those scenes in a studio rather than return to Tikal."

This reveal falls in line with a number of other rumors that claim the return of the original heroes Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewbacca and the continuation of the story in the times after the fall of the Empire. Many speculate that these characters will return, but as minor cameos. Mark Hamill has cited an interest in returning, as have Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.

The new Star Wars film comes out in the summer of 2015. The script will be written by Michael Arndt, but there has been no director attached to the project. Many major filmmakers such as Zach Snyder, Guillermo Del Toro, Brad Bird, Steven Spielberg, and Joss Whedon have turned down the project. The major frontrunner to helm the movie is Matthew Vaughn.
