After New York Magazine's "Vulture" blog announced a Star Wars spin off by Zack Snyder, the director released a statement claiming that it was false.

In an exclusive statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder's spokesperson stated that, "While he is super-flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia." He added that Snyder will not be involved on neither Episodes VII, VIII, IX nor any other off shoot movies.

On Monday Jan. 14 Vulture blog published an article that stated that the director would create a spinoff of the series. The blog added that it would be inspired by "The Seven Samurai" and would be set in a parallel time between "Returne of the Jedi" and "Episode VII".

Lucasfilm's is currently on the hunt for a filmmaker or two to tackle the final trilogy, which is in the process of being written by Michael Arndt ("Toy Story 3"). Directors approached for the project have included J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek Into Darkness"), Jon Favreau ("Iron Man") and Matthew Vaughan ("Kick Ass").

The Hollywood Reporter also announced that Lucasfilms would develop spins off to enhance the Star Wars Universe. The company has hired Class Kasdan who wrote the "Empire Strikes Back"  and Simon Kinberg ("X-Men First Class") to develop them.

Snyder is currently writing the war drama "The Last Photograph," while his latest film "Man of Steel" hits theaters in June.
