Manchester United currently stands perched atop the English Premier League, but that does not mean that Sir Alex Ferguson is not looking to stock up his cupboard in preparations for the Champions League meetings with Real Madrid.

The team is currently linked with a plethora of names, but their biggest need right now seems to be in net. Rumors have been circulating that Ferguson has tired of keeper David De Gea and is looking for a replacement. Iker Casillas has been listed as a possibility, but it seems that Ferguson has his eyes on other keepers. One of them is Stoke City goalie Asmir Begovic. According to Matt Fitzgerald of Bleacher Report, Manchester United is willing to cover the netminder's 15 million pound price tag. Begovic has only allowed 20 goals in 21 matches and has an aggressive style that would help improve the United defense.

Sportsnet's Simon Phillips is reporting that Galatasaray keeper Fernando Muslera may also be an option for United. His report comes from a Turkish source that claims that Ferguson has tendered a 14 million pound offer for the 26-year old keeper.

Aside from improving his goalkeeper, Ferguson also seems intent on improving his midfield and has shown interest in signing veteran Frank Lampard this summer when he leaves Chelsea. Ferguson has been a big fan of Lampard and has even called the veteran "incredible." The desire to sign Lampard likely has a great deal to do with the departure of Ferguson's aging midfield which includes 39-year Ryan Giggs and 38-year Paul Scholes. 27-year Darren Fletcher has been inconsistent and Lampard could fill the void if all three players choose to leave in the summer.
