Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro Release Date for End of January; Microsoft Previously Noted Release Will Be 90 Days Later than Windows RT Tablet

Following the recent launch of the Surface tablet with Windows RT as its operating system, Microsoft will be launching the Surface with Windows 8 Pro this month.

The Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro is set to be released with a starting price of $899 for the 64GB model and $999 for the 128GB model. The regardless of the price, it will not feature the keyboard cover and Office suite software.

Microsoft, however, has not provided a specific launch date of the new Surface but CNET might have cracked the glass to reveal its debut.

According to CNET, calls have been made to several Microsoft stores across the U.S. but most stated it will launch at the end of the month, but one store stated it expects the new tablet on Jan. 26.

The date will fall in line with a statement Microsoft released back in June 18, 2012. In a statement regarding the Surface, Microsoft noted the Windows 8 Pro model "will be available about 90 days later."

The Surface with Windows RT did launch on Oct. 26, and 90 days later will fall around Jan. 26. Of course, Microsoft can change plans whenever it wants to.

The Surface with Windows 8 Pro is the same screen size as the Windows RT, at 10.6-inches but a different pixel resolution of 1,920x1,080. The upcoming tablet will not be available in the same internal storage models as the Windows RT model - 32GB and 64GB, and have the third generation Intel Core i5 Processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000.
