A Skype update has been provided for Windows Phone 8 users.

The Skype update is version 2.1, and it does include a major change from previous versions.

The People Hub integration feature has been "temporarily disabled. It also listed the additional changes in the new version.

According to a post by Skype, the organization is working with Windows Phone tam to fix issues to enable the People Hub in a future release.

Additional changes, aside from the People Hub integration, includes:

- Updated chat keyboard with improved autocomplete/autocorrect is now available;

- Buddies from Windows Live Messenger are labeled in the People list;

- Added option to enable toast notifications for Windows Live Messenger buddies.

The Skype update further fixes issues from the previous update such as:

- Significantly improved the reliability of presence and chat and call notifications when the app is closed;

- Improved call reliability;

- In some cases, chat messages would appear in incorrect order. Chat messages will now appear in correct order, by timestamp.

Users have already commented on the Windows Phone app page.

Dane: "Very buggy. Can't delete conversations. Does not stay on.. Does not update. Does not collaborate well with mic and ear piece when I start a call it starts in earpiece remember to switch to speaker or they can't hear you. As other users said the iOS version of Skype is better than wp8 version. That's embarrassing. Yes you can update it and most likely fix it. Why doesn't it work now? Why doesn't it work now on your own platform??? Update hasn't fixed anything?!?!?!"

D.: "Doesnt allow sign out and has poor camera implementation."

Ashwin: "Where do I start? Skype owned by Microsoft isn't tightly integrated with the phone app. It is a battery killer and gets my phone really hot. Won't receive a call if I am on a different app. Microsoft fix this!! The update still hasn't fixed this!"
