People still have mixed emotions toward Matt Lauer following Ann Curry's firing from "Today."

The NBC morning show has experienced changes after Curry's departure yet Lauer is still bearing the criticism.

TMZ reports Lauer being "freaked out" that people, "lots of them," are screaming and blaming him for Curry's firing.

Sources have told TMZ that the "Today" co-host feels "miserable" over the "hateful and unfair tirades" and the harassment has been "constant."

A network source told the Thirty Mile Zone, "It's driving him crazy.  He's so unhappy."

The latest news about Lauer follows a string of rumors and speculation such as he'll be fired just as the morning show is fronted by new executive producers replacing Jim Bell, who took the blame for Curry's firing back in September.

Bell, who will be involved with NBC Olympics coverage, said at the time, ""It was definitely not Matt's call. He is the host and does not have management responsibility. It was not his call. That was my call." He later added, "Matt is the heart and soul of the broadcast. He has a heart of gold. This stuff about him has been very irresponsible and in a lot of cases flat-out wrong."

New "Today" Executive Producer Alexandra Wallace spoke out against the firing rumors earlier this month, stating, "There is absolutely no truth to this. There have been some recent outrageous claims regarding Matt and the Today show, and an awful lot of piling on from nameless, faceless sources. These stories are wrong and irresponsible."

Do you think it's time people move on from the Curry-Lauer debate? Or does Lauer have a role in Curry's departure?
