With many receiving new smartphones and tablets during the Holiday season, expect people to download apps.

With the popularity of the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 smartphones, the Windows Phone app store will see a spike in downloads.

So which apps are highly rated?

GasBuddy

The free GasBuddy app gives users real-time gas prices and the location of the cheapest prices in your area.

The app was last updated today and has garnered 6,827 reviewers, giving it a total of four and a half stars.

"Help fight high gas prices together by reporting gas prices, and get a chance to win free gas in the process!" touted the GasBuddy app.

Men's Health

For $1.99, the Men's Health app gives users exclusive workout tops from top coaches, athletes, and experts.

"Powered by a one-of-a-kind circuit training interface, and featuring step-by-step instructions, high quality photos, and advanced logging features, Men's Health Workouts makes it easier than ever to sculpt new muscle, burn fat fast, and build your best body ever," noted the app.

The app features sorted exercises from A to Z and varies on body parts and preferences.

Reviewer Nisheet wrote, "I am a subscriber for the magazine and really like men's health workouts. This app is an excellent resource of their workouts and very well written, organized!"

NowPlaying

For 0.99 cents, users can share music and videos quickly to social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter. With the NowPlaying app, users can customize tweets and texts and integrate to social accounts.

Reviewer jerzeetrooper01 stated, "Works great everytime and I have no problems with linking to my fb and my twitter. *Two thumbs up*."

Flixster

With Flixster, Windows Phone 8 users are able to watch movie trailers, track down showtimes, and read reviews ahead of showtime.

Additional features for the free app includes upcoming movies and DVD releases, which movie is topping the box office, Rotten Tomatoes reviews, and integration with Bing search courtesy of its latest update version 1.6.

With over 22,000 reviews, Flixster has five stars and tops the best apps list on Windows Phone.

Wikipedia

The free Wikipedia allows users to view articles in 100 languages, viewable offline, and share on social media networks,

With 3,396 reviews, the Wikipedia app has received five stars.

Reviewer Scott wrote, "Best Wikipedia app! I really like the "around me" function that searches articles of places near my location."

SkyDrive

It's the free app where you can store files when your device runs out of room.

The cloud storage app allows users to upload photos, videos, and documents to your phone and it can be viewable from other devices. The files can be edited, deleted, and moved at your discretion.

Reviews have so far been positive, notably for Lumia 920 users, such as, "Just got 920 and this has been great app for moving files. I make use of creating files and moving to SkyDrive for music and videos for the day. The free storage is plenty and perfect for me. Laptop, PC, and phone all are connected to the Sky."

With 3,029 reviews, SkyDrive received four and a half stars.
