Contrary to early rumors, it looks like that Samsung will not be charitable as far as its next flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S7, is concerned.

Back in November, word came out that Samsung could be cutting down the price of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The Daily Mail made an analysis and believed that prices for the Galaxy S7 could be slashed by as much as 10%.

Such is believed to be something that Samsung could be resorting to as a means to tackle on the cheaper devices offered by rival companies such as Motorola and Huawei.

But now it seems that the rumor mill is singing a different tune. Rather than a cost-friendly Galaxy S7, Android.com.pl reports that the next Samsung flagship may be priced higher.

Why the sudden spike in price? The report further adds that the reason for such is that Samsung has added a new feature with an iris scanner which means that making plain eye-contact with the device will unlock it.

For some, the feature does sound a bit overboard. Many are perhaps fine with the use of a fingerprint scanner for proper security of their phones though an iris scanner takes phone security to an entirely new level.

With people having unique patterns as far as their eyes are concerned, the said feature should e a more precise means of security for the Galaxy S7.

The new iris scanner feature will be reportedly be integrated to the entire Galaxy S7 line meaning that Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Edge Plus and Galaxy S7 Plus will be armed with it once they do come out in the market.

There is no clear indication of how much the prices of the Galaxy S7 will come out with although Phone Arena makes a daring speculation that the price for one could be priced above the $700 mark.

Would the price bump become a cause of concern for folks who are not necessarily fine with a higher priced device? There will certainly be exceptions but the feature that will draw a lot of flak here will certainly be the alleged iris scanner.

The new technology is of course interesting but the added cost to the price tag is not. Though people value securing their phones with a premium, this could be something that many may claims they can do without.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to be among the stars at the 2016 Mobile World Congress in February. But seeing that Samsung is likely to stage is annual “Unpacked” event, there is a chance that it could come out earlier but just by a couple of weeks.
