With the Google Nexus 6P apparently making big strides despite some supply issues, the time has come for Google to kill its predecessor, the Motorola Nexus 6.

The device launched last year and did have a good showing as pointed out by Phandroid.com. However, with the Huawei Nexus 6P expected to overshadow the said device, it probably makes no more sense to put it up for sale though there will be some folks who could still be interested in it.

Just the same, the Nexus 6 can still be found on third party sites and most likely at discounted prices that could go as low as $350. If you are having a hard time finding it, you can even go directly to Motorola, although it costs a bit more at $500.

It should be noted that even though the Nexus 6 is no longer available, it does not immediately follow that the company is no longer rendering support for the year-old device.

The Motorola Nexus 6 is still expected to receive the usual Android OS updates perhaps for the next couple of years.

Droid Life was the first site to take notice of the end-of-life of the Nexus 6, though it was a development that didn't come as a shock.

Despite sporting a huge display, it didn’t hit it big with consumers in spite of the fact that a lot of folks these days have been transitioning to the large or phablet-like mobile devices available in the market.

For those who are unaware, the Motorola Nexus 6 carried the following specs (via GSM Arena):

• 5.96-inch AMOLED display (1440x2560 pixel resolution)
• Quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7 GHz
• 3GB RAM
• 32/ 64 GB of internal storage
• 13 MP main camera
• 2 MP front-facing camera
• Non-removable 3220 mAh battery
• Android 5.0 Lollipop OS (out of the box)

The Nexus 6 originally came out with a hefty $649 price tag for unlocked versions as reported on CNet but of course everyone knows how fast prices dwindle over time.

It remains to be seen if there would be folks who would get one at this stage though the pricing factor plus features could likely sway some from getting hold of one.

With the Google Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P being the big and new stars under the Google umbrella, it may be best for folks to consider getting the newer models unless they have their reasons to get the recently scratched model from the Google Play Store.
