You've told us which tablets you're most excited for this holiday season, and in a virtual tie, the Google Nexus 7 barely edges out the Amazon Kindle Fire HD.

Each one clocked in as the tablet of choice for 25 percent of our respondents, an amazing feat considering we gave you over a dozen options.

Surprisingly, the iPad Mini and the iPad came in 6th and 7th place, respectively, behind the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, the eagerly-awaited Microsoft Surface Pro, and the subset of respondents not currently planning to buy any tablet.

The Surface RT languished near the bottom of our list, with only 4 percent of respondents hoping to buy one. That matches low sales figures reported by Microsoft for the new tablet.

For those looking to pick up the Kindle Fire, you can get $50 off a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 today only, as Amazon is slashing the price in a one-day sale.

Perhaps it's the high price of the iPads keeping our readers interested in other options. About 11 percent of respondents are interested in either sized iPad, a fifth of the interest seen in the cheaper Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD.

Our previous reviews have said as much. While all three are excellent tablets, critical reviews and user opinions put the Nexus 7 barely ahead in a tight race, particularly among those for whom price is a big consideration.

The Kindle Fire HD works well for people with large Amazon libraries, and either iPad is a great choice for anyone who's willing to shell out more for a tablet. The Apple AppStore is also still considered the best around, although Google Play is quickly catching up.

One interesting result is the popularity of the Surface Pro. Nearly 8 percent of you are waiting until it comes out early next month. That's even considering that it's more of an ultrabook/tablet hybrid than a true tablet.

Microsoft is hoping to position the Surface Pro as the best of both worlds: the power of a laptop with the portability of a tablet. We'll see how it holds up in practice one it comes out.

Yet the Surface RT is a true tablet, and it's not a bad one. Likely the disinterest is due to all the competition in that arena, while the Surface Pro really has no true competitors right now.

We'll keep you posted on future developments with all these devices.
