Rumors about the iPhone 6c began circulating again after a new report surfaced that the handset will release. Users previously expected the device to launch together with the iPhone 6s in September 2015, but only the latter was unveiled. There is a new claim that the iPhone 6c will finally be launching in 2016.
Chinese website TechWeb reported that Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 6c early in 2016. There might be an official announcement in January and the handset might become available to the public in February.
GottaBeMobile stated that the iPhone 6c will most likely feature a 4-inch screen, similar to the iPhone 5c. TechWeb stated that the device will have a metal body, instead of a plastic polycarbonate case. However, the leaked images still showcased the device in a polycarbonate shell. There will also an array of bright colors available. The phone may have Touch ID and NFC for Apple Pay. The 6c is expected to be cheaper than the iPhone 6 and 6s, so it might not include a number of features, such as a 3D Touch display.
The leaked photos of the 6c casing looked very much the same as the iPhone 5c’s body. There were a number of small changes, such as the elongated camera LED flash and added speaker grille holes on the base of the casing. There are also rumors that the handset will include Gorilla Glass protection and the Apple A8 processor, similar to the iPhone 6.
One of the most unique traits of the iPhone 6c is its 4-inch display. Several users have been asking for a smaller display, for a more hand-friendly experience. The iPhone 5c was well-received because of its low price and handiness. The company is expected to take on the same approach to cater to particular users.
It is not actually the first time that Apple would announce a new product in January. The first-generation iPhone was also announced in January 2007, although the device was released in June. However, Apple has yet to confirm the rumors, so people should take the report with a grain of salt. If Apple decides that a lower-cost iPhone with a smaller screen would boost sales, the iPhone 6c might release early in 2016. 9to5 Mac noted that Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities analyst, predicted that the iPhone 6c will not launch in November 2015, but instead become available in the first half of 2016.
