The Xperia Z5 Compact is barely 2 months old and tech fans are already anticipating its successor. And the rumors emerging are not exactly scant.

"The Sony Z6 Compact will return in the smallest form of the newest flagship, but will be the perfect handset for those looking for something amazing at a cheaper price," Xperia Z6 Info relayed. "It sounds like the Sony Xperia Z6 Compact price will be priced... starting at $650 for the US launch."

The site went on to say that the Z6 may launch in June 2016 and that information on the upcoming model's potential release date appear "pretty consistent with previous releases in the famed Xperia Z series including two flagships each calendar year."

However, considering these reports are unverified, it's worth taking these updates with a grain of salt.

Further, it's been whispered about that the yet to be released device may feature a "pressure-sensitive display," according to Mobipicker's source, who is said to have close ties to Sony Mobile Communications' distribution network.

"Sony will be incorporating its own version of the Force Touch technology in the Z6," the site went on. "For those who don't know, a pressure-sensitive display allows you to perform various quick actions or access quick functions by applying different amount of pressure on the touchscreen."

If indeed this bit of information proves to be legit, Sony may have a something next year that could make it edge out a number of its competitors. And perhaps keep people from talking about the next iteration too soon?

Force Touch technology is not unique to Apple's products, as Android-powered devices have already been equipped with the said feature "for years," as noted by Pocketnow.

"Android has had 'force touch' since API Level 5 which was introduced in Android 2.0 Eclair," the tech news portal said. "That was back in November of 2009."

However, the said feature has been deemed by some as not as useful, although it does make the mobile experience a bit more complex and, for some, interesting. Despite this, it shouldn't be surprising when more smartphone makers will include this feature in their products soon. Huawei has already done it, and Samsung is reportedly poised to follow suit.

"It is is highly possible that the Xperia Z6 will carry a 2K (QHD) screen," Mobipicker added. "The phone is expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC."
