The past months have been filled with iPhone 7 rumors ranging from external design all the way to the internal features.

That includes belief that the next iPhone 7 iteration will offer a sleek new design plus possibly sporting an A10 chip, something that stemmed from a report that the Cupertino company has placed large orders for it via the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).

The latter rumor is a bit quirky seeing that mass production will not start until March, 2016.

And then there is the display. Initial rumors pegged the iPhone 7 to come with a display that will feature a force touch display as well as the ability to read fingerprints which could be a cool thing to look forward to if it does materialize.

But the latest on the iPhone 7 display is that Apple will likely use the old TFT-LCD display instead of another growing rumor that believes that Apple will be shifting to the use of AMOLED displays.

This comes no less from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the same person who initially said that the next iPhone will measure only 6.0 to 6.5 mm and will be as thin as the Apple iPod Touch/ iPad Air 2.

Ming-Chi Kuo has been known to be a reliable source of insights when it comes to future Apple devices thus far.

He points out that Apple is still has large investments on LCD panel production and seeing how iPhones are still flying out as frenzied as we speak, a shift to the AMOLED display may not yet be happening any time soon. For at least the next three years, he believes that Apple will stick with its TFT-LCD displays.

He adds that Apple will stay this route, particularly because Foxconn is investing in advanced TFT-LCD production which is expected to come out by 2018.

Right now, the whole issue on what Apple plans to do with the expected iPhone 7 remains unclear though the final decision still falls in their hands.

The iPhone 7 is not expected to gain ground until the months near September, the time when Apple usually unveils its next-gen iPhones. Hence, this piece could be true or then maybe not but with a long way off, expect more rumors and speculations coming out in the following months.

Other than the display, other rumored specs that the iPhone 7 may be coming with include a camera with six-element lenses while multiple patents for technologies like a protective mechanism or a touch surface could indicate that more new features for the next iPhone variant could be in the midst.
