Although the sequel to "Finding Nemo" wont be in theaters until the middle of next year, the noisemakers behind the film are already teasing the animated flick as early as now.
Recently, Disney Pixar released the first poster of "Finding Dory," which featured just half of the amnesiac blue fish swimming in the depths of the ocean, leaving a light trail of bubbles and a phrase that said, "She just kept swimming..."
Not leaving fans out cold, the poster reveal will be followed by the unveiling of the first official trailer for the movie.
"The sequel takes place six months after the original film, when Dory is inspired by the homeward bound migratory practices of manta rays," ScreenRant noted. "The plot will deal with Dory's attempts to discover where exactly it was that she came from."
Pixar chief Jim Morris had previously revealed that the setting for part 2 will be at the California Marine Biology Institute, a giant aquarium and marine facility where Dory apparently was born and raised. Morris promised fans that they'll meet a host of new characters in the follow up to the hit 2003 flick.
There have been rumors that the 2013 documentary "Blackfish" had influenced the change in the setting for "Finding Dory," as the original plan reportedly involved an aquatic theme park.
"The script for 'Finding Dory,' which is still in the early stages of production ahead of its planned 2015 release, initially had an ending that involved a marine park, according to a Pixar employee," The New York Times said in 2013. "Pixar decided to restructure that part of the story so that the fish and mammals taken to its aquatic center have the option to leave."
Meanwhile, DeGeneres herself said that she is against keeping fish as pets. She believes that fish belong to the ocean, which is what the upcoming film is about.
"It's about rehabilitation and putting them back in the ocean ... And we have to protect our oceans. Hopefully that discussion starts with this film, because we really need to protect that environment," she told Yahoo! Movies in an interview.
"Albert Brooks will once again be voicing the character of Marlin, while Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy will provide the voices of Dory's long-lost parents Jenny and Charlie," MailOnline said. "Ty Burrell will voice a whale named Bailey, and his Modern Family co-star Ed O'Neill also has a role in the film as an ill-tempered octopus.
"Idris Elba and Dominic West additionally will provide voices," the publication added.
"Finding Dory" has been slated for a June 17, 2016 release.
