The "Lego Batman" spinoff movie has officially added Ralph Fiennes to its cast to play Batman's loyal butler and confidant, Alfred Pennyworth.

The movie will be starring the voice of Will Arnett, who played the caped crusader in "The Lego Movie." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Cera will be voicing Batman's sidekick Robin, while Rosario Dawson has been signed to play Batgirl. While not official, Zach Galifianakis has been rumored to be in talks to voice Batman's arch-nemesis the Joker.

Screen Crush reports that the confirmation of Fiennes' addition to the cast came from Fiennes himself while on the road promoting his new film "Spectre", where he will be reprising his role as M. Fiennes replaced Dane Judi Dench as M, who has played the role since 1995's "Golden Eye."

While not much is known about the story of the "Batman Lego Movie", it has been rumored that the version of the caped crusader Arnett portrays is a more high-maintenance version of the hero. With that being said, rumors are circulating that because of this, Batman and Alfred's relationship has become strained as Alfred has gone through years of abuse and turmoil. This seems to be a new twist as the two have always maintained a pseudo-father / son relationship in most forms of Batman, including the comic books.

The choice of Fiennes as Alfred seems good as the actor is familiar with playing a butler role. Fiennes played the role of Monsieur Gustave H. in the film "The Grand Budapest Hotel", and was nominated for several awards including the BAFTA award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Fiennes is also very well known for his role of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies. While he may not be wielding any magic wands or casting spells, it will be fun to see if Fiennes will bring a certain amount of evil to his characters.

The "Lego Batman" spinoff will now be directed by Chris McKay, who served as the animation supervisor for "The Lego Movie." The script has been written by Seth Grahame-Smith of "Dark Shadows" fame. The film is slated to be released in theaters on Feb. 10, 2017.
