Liam Payne After Sophia Smith Split: How Is He?

A couple of days ago, news broke that One Direction member Liam Payne split from his girlfriend of two years Sophia Smith. Many are asking, how is he?

In an interview byThe Sun, Payne admitted that he is absolutely devastated by the breakup. The singer also revealed that being on tour this year made it hard to see her.

"Being on tour all this year and being away from her was so hard. We spent so much time apart. But in order to do right by somebody, sometimes it's better not to do what your heart wants, but to do what's better for them," Payne said.

Hollywood Life reported that the relationship must really be in a lot of strain because all they had to do was wait a few weeks more before the band takes their much-awaited break. After the release of their One Direction album this month, the boys will need to do some promotion and will then take some time off for a year.

Now that he is single, Liam said he wants to take some time for himself. He also discussed how he will spend it. Payne said that he wants to take advantage of the break they were given to figure out who he really wants to be. The singer also said that he might do some work in publishing and collaborations, as well as writing songs for other artists.

A source told Hollywood Life that Smith chose to end her relationship with the One Direction heartthrob because she felt the relationship was getting too serious and she wasn't ready for that kind of commitment yet.

"Sophia felt that their relationship was at a point where they either made a decision to get married and settle down, or they go on and do something else and experience more of the world," a source confessed. "She chose the latter because she's still so young. Sophia has always been an independent woman and believes she has a lot to achieve."

Their split comes as the band also makes and exit. One Direction played their last show of their "On The Road Again" tour in Sheffield. A couple of months ago, it was revealed that the band plans to extend their break to a year after working non-stop for five years. Although the band promised their fans that they will surely be back and the break is only temporary, there are rumors that Harry Styles might be quitting to pursue a solo career in music.
