There will be no story-based downloadable content (DLC) for “Halo 5: Guardians.”

Josh Holmes, studio head of 343 Industries, stated that there are currently no plans to provide an additional story DLC for the new first-person shooter, which released on Oct. 27, 2015.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is the fifth entry in the series. It was described by one critic as the boldest “Halo” yet. The multiplayer is currently at its best, with a mode that players will definitely keep coming back to. There is also a campaign with fluid new movement and an open level design. However, some players found the narrative aspects somewhat underdeveloped, which may keep the game from reaching its full potential. This may also explain why some are looking forward to additional story DLC.

“While we’re always looking for new ways to expand the Halo universe, we do not currently have any plans to release future campaign content for Halo 5: Guardians,” Holmes told Red Bull. He also shared how they built the new game from the ground up to depend heavily on the cloud and Xbox One. They were able to create a multiplayer and campaign experience that they always dreamed of. The campaign mode, in particular, was more immersive and dynamic, with all aspects running at 60 fps.

The game has only been available for a few days and Luke Smith, head of 343 Industries, confirmed that there are no plans at the moment to launch single-player DLC for “Halo 5.” Game Rant wrote that the studio’s focus in terms of post-launch content will be on multiplayer. It is also unlikely that the developers will start working on campaign DLC soon, considering how it has only worked on such a project once. The “Halo” series provide the ODST side-story to “Halo 3” before, which continued to grow and was eventually launched at full price, with new multiplayer maps.

Gamers can look forward to the release of new content focusing on multiplayer. The microtransaction system of “Halo 5” is currently made to support the release of 15 free multiplayer maps until June 2016. The REQ system may provide a huge advantage for players in terms of microtransactions. New maps will also help grow the game’s population over time. 343 Industries is apparently hoping that the multiplayer content will boost the popularity of “Halo 5: Guardians” over time. The effects of their strategy to focus on multiplayer instead of adding campaign missions remain to be seen.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is now available on Xbox One.
