Ultrapopular game developer Bethesda has announced that it has recently rolled out an update to its hit mobile game "Fallout Shelter" for both the iOS and android versions.

Gamespot reports that the update will include a new survival game mode, as well as a new character for iOS users. The character that will be made available will be a legendary dweller named Piper. Bethesda states that Piper will be a character in the upcoming "Fallout 4" but her role in the game has yet to be revealed. In "Fallout Shelter", Piper will start out as level 30 and is equipped with a rusty laser pistol.

Bethesda has stated, however, that only iOS users will be able to get Piper for free as well as five free lunchboxes. It is not known why android users are not privy to the same features.

According to IGN, the update will also include several changes to game play. Players will now be able to loot defeated enemies such as raiders and death claws, as well as the ability to skip the tutorial. Players will also encounter for the first time the Mysterious Stranger, and instead of having to defeat the NPC through normal blasters and guns, players will simply have to find the stranger as he appears randomly throughout the player's vault.

Bethesda will also be introducing a "Survival Mode", which the game developer has described as more glorious, more dangerous and more difficult than that of the "Normal Mode." While not a lot of information has been given for this particular mode, it seems that players will have to go through waves and waves of wasteland enemies, seeing how long they can have their vault dwellers survive.

The new update will also allow players to have a cloud save, meaning that they can simply log into another device if needed and continue their vault that way. This is a nice feature as it was not available previously.

Currently, "Fallout Shelter" has proved to be a smash hit for Bethesda as the game is currently on top of the download list on both the iOS and android systems. The game has raised over USD5 million for the game developer in the first two weeks of availability alone, and has over 70 million users.

Bethesda hopes that "Fallout Shelter" will help fans transition to "Fallout 4", which will be made available on the next generation of consoles and PC starting November.
