The filming date for “Fifty Shades Darker” has been postponed and there are rumors that fans may lose interest in the second installment over time.

Everyday News reported that the launch of the follow-up of “Fifty Shades of Grey” was originally scheduled in 2017. However, the filming date has been postponed, although there is still no official news regarding the reason.

Some people speculate that there may have been changes made in the production stage that triggered the delay. Reportedly there were modifications in the whole production team.

Previously, James Foley stepped in to substitute Sam Taylor-Johnson as director. The International Business Times stated that there were talks that Taylor-Johnson and author E.L. James had creative differences in the early stages of production, which led to the former’s departure. The director did not comment on the feud rumors. She directed the first movie and announced that she will not be returning for the sequels but wish success to the next director of the succeeding films.

As for Foley, he said that he loved the project and had a comfortable relationship with E.L. James.

“The idea that there is a kind of communal sexual dynamic which is appreciated across a lot of cultures is what fascinates me the most.” The director told Brian Koppelman, podcast host of “The Moment.” Foley added that he already communicated with actors Dakota Johnson and James Dornan about the upcoming movie and said that they are excited to create a beautiful film that features both art and entertainment.

There was also a new scriptwriter introduced recently. Filming was supposed to begin at the end of September 2015. However, the production team does not have a casting director to begin the process. Although some of the main characters are already set, there are still a number of positions waiting to be filled, based on the same report by Everyday News.

Dakota Johnson, who stars as Anastasia Steele, revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that filming might begin early in 2016.

“We start sometime in the New Year,” Johnson told DeGeneres. She did not share details on why filming was postponed but said that fans can look forward to watching the filming process soon.

The first adaptation from the E.L. James novel was filmed in Vancouver and British Columbia. The cast are expected to shoot at the same locations in 2016.

The first movie adaptation, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” was released on Feb. 13, 2015, raking in $569 million worldwide.
