The reviews for the Galaxy Note 2 phablet are in, and it appears that the size of the device will be a make-or-break factor for a number of consumers.

Even critics who recommend the Note 2 warn readers of its cumbersome design, so techies on the fence should make sure that they are willing to accept the phone-tablet hybrid philosophy guiding Samsung's handset.

If you have already made your choice to take the plunge, the choice between carriers moves to the forefront. According to PC World, Consumer Reports places Verizon in the top spot for customer service and service quality, followed by Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T, in that order. AT&T did, however, "garner the least complaints from consumers" for its 4G service."

Let's take a look at the reviews.

CNET

"If you like the idea of an S Pen and a larger screen, and aren't put off by the high price, by all means buy the Note 2. It's different, and with its internally stored stylus, faster processor, and more mature software, it beats the pants off its closest competitor, the LG Intuition. However, if you're not convinced you'd use the S Pen and you find the screen size ridiculously large, then back away. There are plenty of other premium phones vying for your attention."

"The screen isn't the only part of the Note II that's big. Overall, the phone is incredibly thick and heavy, which is a pain to keep in your pocket. After carrying the svelte iPhone 5 around for the last month or so, I felt like I had a brick in my jeans with the Note II. It was demoted to my computer bag within the first day.

And that's the problem with the Note II. It's a great phone in most respects, but ironically its most distinguishing feature hurts the device in the end.

The Note II is just...too...big."

TechRadar

"Ultimately, there's no getting away from the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a niche device. But it does almost everything it sets out to do perfectly, with grace, class and maximum functionality. And if you're in the market for a larger smartphone or a small tablet, there really is no better device."

Wired

"The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 offers a range of improvements over its predecessor with a bigger screen, beefed-up processor, the latest version of Android and a bigger battery. This really is a go-anywhere device that you can use for work or for fun in equal measure, a Swiss Army Knife of a handset that can do virtually everything you might want it to."
