Director Bryan Singer reveals that the "X-Men: Apocalypse" will have a longer running time as compared to other X-men movies. This is because the movie is sort of a wrap-up of six movies, the director said at the San Pedro International Film Festival. He also revealed that Michael Fassbender, as Magneto, made him cry in one scene.
Speaking at the film festival, as noted by The Movie Report, Singer said that the "X-Men: Apocalypse" will run pass the two hours he normally sets for X-men movies.
"I may actually let it be a longer movie because it's sort of a wrap-up of six movies," the director said, adding that there is a homage at the end of the film. "It might run a little bit long, but it's not boring," he promised. "The movie is very emotional. I love the pathos of the characters and their relationships," Singer said of the whole film.
The most exciting part will be a scene with Fassbender as Magneto, Singer revealed. The scene, that made him cry inside the tent for the first time in his career as a director, was suggested by Fassbender himself. The scene was heartbreaking and not a typical comic book movie scene, the director shared, adding that he hopes that it makes the cut.
He also revealed that the trailer with the glimpse of the homage will come out in six months. The director teased that there will be new young characters as well. There will also be rekindled romances like in the case of Charles Xavier and Moira MacTaggert.
On Oct. 8, M&M'S Chocolate Candies and 20th Century Fox announced a partnership, which makes the chocolate candy the exclusive chocolate and confectionary promotional partner of the film. At initial reading, the announcement sounded just like the culmination of an official partnership between two companies. However, the press release came with the first ever official synopsis of "X-Men: Apocalypse" that opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
"Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible," the synopsis reads.
"Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign," reads the announcement. With this, the fate of the Earth hangs in the Balance. Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop the villain and save the world from destruction.
