The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop continues to roll out to a number of devices. Particularly, Sony confirmed that the OS update was recently released for the Sony Xperia M2 (single and dual sim), and the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua. Other devices were also confirmed to receive the update soon.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, with the build number 18.6.A.175 has already rolled out on several Sony Xperia devices so users actually expected it to arrive on more devices shortly. The update will be launched in stages, so users will receive it at different times, depending on their phone carrier and location. Neurogadget reported that the Sony Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua will directly go from Android KitKat 4.4.4 to Android Lollipop 5.1.1.

GSM Arena revealed that the Huawei Honor 6 will receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, together with the new EMUI 3.1 launcher. India will be the first country to receive the update via over-the-air (OTA). Manual updating can also be done via ROM on the official Huawei India website. The file size is 1.3GB so users may need at least 3GB to install it successfully.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Mini will also get the OTA update of the Android 5.1.1. T-Mobile was the first to roll out the OS update to the Samsung Galaxy S5 in July 2015. Other carriers will follow in the coming days. The file size is said to be around 640MB. Manual installation can also be done by going to the Samsung website, based on a report by Realty Today.

The new update is expected provide several enhancements and bug fixes, such as the Stagefright issue that let hackers gain full control of devices. Previously, unscrupulous individuals were able to view and manage personal data after they send an MMS and the user opens it. Verizon Wireless revealed that Android 5.1.1 will also integrate the LinkedIn application with the Contacts and Calendar apps. There will be Bluetooth and Wi-Fi options in the notifications menu, making these more convenient to access. The OS will be more stable and apps will operate smoother than before because of the enhanced Android Run Time.

The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow will launch on October 5. Several Samsung devices are already running on the Android Lollipop out of the box, such as the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Tab 10.1, among others. These will be getting the Android M update in the following weeks.
