Not intimidated by all the new releases from juggernauts in the mobile tech industry, HTC joins the fray with new reports alleging a new smartphone will be unveiled soon.

"HTC One M10 might debut in early 2016 following the release dates of the previous models," Venture Capital Post said. "Since HTC is known for its planning and stability, chances for the new HTC smartphone release date are less." "However, there is also a possibility that it will be launched in December, given that other big companies are launching their new devices too," the site added.

Based on existing buzz about the product, the One M10 may be a major update as its rumored specs have been observed to be a considerable improvement over that of its predecessor.

"The HTC One M10 is expected to use Qualcomm's yet to be announced Snapdragon 820 processor, after analysts blamed overheating problems linked to the Snapdragon 810 for lacklustre sales of the One M9," The Inquirer noted. "Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 is apparently 35 percent faster than the 810 and 30 percent more power efficient."

The handset will also reportedly have 4GB of RAM, a 6-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution, a 5MP selfie camera, a 20.7MP rear camera, and a 3,500mAh battery.

Venture Capital Post, however, said that while the unit may be equipped with a Snapdragon 820 chip, it will only have a 5-inch display. However its front-facing camera will register 27MP and have autofocus and face detection. It will also have 3GHz octa-core HMP cyclone tech, plus "two powerful stereo speakers, dual sim support, fingerprint scanner, as well as waterproof and dustproof certifications."

"Moreover, HTC One M10 is rumored to come with wireless charging and its camera will give direct competition to Samsung Galaxy S6 and LG G4. Aside from those, next year's flagship might also keep the design of its predecessor or have a new one," the news portal went on to say.

As is the habit of most smartphone makers, HTC has not confirmed these reports or features yet.

What is certain is that smartphone users expect the next model to be a considerably better one, although its predecessor, HTC One M9, was already a thing of beauty in itself. The battery life needed a boost and the camera could use some improvement. Hopefully, the Taiwanese tech company would inject something new in One M10's design, although the M9 was already a looker, to keep things interesting.

Further, TechRadar mentioned a fingerprint scanner on the M10 would also be nifty, although it's better to nix that feature if HTC is unable to whip up an excellent version for the upcoming handset.
