'Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder can't seem to get away from talking about '50 Shades of Grey' lead Christian Grey. During a recent interview with MTV News about his organization, Ian Somerhalder Foundation, the vampire-playing actor said he believed the philanthropic Grey would definitely volunteer for his organization.
"Of course he'd volunteer for our foundation," Somerhalder said. "Mr. Grey is a sucker for opportunity and challenge...as a volunteer? Mr. Grey would be able to harness the corporate world to service the mission of the foundation, and he'd do it with a sparkle in his eyes and a smile across his mouth."
In the bestselling series by British author E.L. James, Christian Grey is portrayed as a multimillionaire corporate leader who also does his fair share of philanthropy. Somerhalder has been a fan favorite, along with 'White Collar' actor Matt Bomer, for the highly coveted role.
Somerhalder, himself a humanitarian, began his foundation in 2010 in hopes of protecting animals and the environment. The 33-year-old has used his social media prowess to promote ISF and its fundraising efforts. The foundation is currently in the running against several other celebrity-backed charities for a chance to earn a $50,000 donation from Mozilla.
This will probably not be the last time Somerhalder is asked about playing Christian Grey-or anything remotely related to the character. In recent fan polls by Latinos Post, the VD vamp was tied with Bomer at 42.25 percent of the votes. The duo was followed not so closely behind by 'Arrow' actor Stephen Amell (12.4 percent) and lastly 'True Blood' actor Alexander Skarsgard (3.1 percent).
Despite having two producers and a screenwriter, '50 Shades of Grey' has yet to finalize any casting decisions.
