Upcoming movies tend to have their trailers leaked over the internet by some random fan. The same happened to the "Warcraft" movie, which was reported earlier. For "X-men: Apocalypse," the very same incident occurred, with the trailer from the last San Diego Comic-Con 2015 unleashed to the public. With this, fans now look forward to the movie's official trailer, which is rumored to come out very soon.
According to Heroic Hollywood, the official trailer for "X-men: Apocalypse" will come out alongside 20th Century Fox's "The Martian" on October 2. In addition, the site mentioned that the trailer will "very likely" surface online before fans see it in theaters with "The Martian," but this still remains unconfirmed.
Should this report come true, there might be some chance that a second trailer will be shown to fans together with the "Deadpool" movie, according to Movie Web. The "X-men" spinoff, which stars Ryan Reynolds, is set to be released onFebruary 16, 2016. Further on, the report stated that the official trailer for "X-men: Apocalypse" may be the same as the San Diego Comic-Con 2015 trailer or not. After all, the movie has finished production and would have more footage to work on.
An interview with the movie's screenwriter, Michael Doughetry, revealed more details about the movie, according to IGN. Doughtry returns to the franchise after his screenplay credit on "X-men United" together with David Hayter and Dan Harris. He was asked about what it feels like to be back working on the franchise and replied, "It was great because it felt like a reunion. Bryan essentially got the band back together. It was myself, Dan Harris and Simon Kinberg, and we just became this little team. It was neat to get reunited, not just with people behind the camera, but also with the characters. Writing for Mystique, or Professor X, it just felt comfortable."
Considered to be the oldest mutant in history, according to the comic books, fans saw a glimpse of En Sabbah Nur creating the pyramids of Egypt. Over the horizon, there were four silhouettes of people on horses. This scene was easily distinguished by fans as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
When asked what his thoughts were about Apocalypse, Doughetry said that the character is literally a giant. He added that Apocalypse is not just a character hellbent on world domination, but someone that people can relate to. He comes from a period where mutants were revered as 'gods' and supernatural deities - worshiped, feared and loved. Placing him in the current "X-men" world where mutants are considered as a threat will make fans see Apocalypse's side.
The movie will be set 10 years after the events of "X-men: Days of Future Past," which is a different time line. This means that "X-men: Apocalypse" will feature a younger cast. Sophie Turner will play Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers and Alexandra Shipp as Storm, to mention a few. Looking back at the previous installments, Cylops and Jean Grey had already died. With a different timeline, both characters are alive and well, which brings the question as to where the franchise would go after this. Doughetry teased viewers during his interview saying a young Jean Grey and a new "X-men" film would lead somewhere, and then revealed nothing more.
"X-men: Apocalypse" will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
