Jessica Alba creeped out her more than five million Instagram followers when she posted a photo of herself wearing a mask akin to the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire in Star Wars, the Stormtroopers. It got creepier because this mask, which lit up a pink LED light, turned out to be a facial treatment.

Speaking with US Weekly, Shani Darden, Alba's facial specialist, explained that the disturbing facial mask treatment is actually just a minor procedure. In fact, the mask, which turns out to be a LED light therapy treatment, is worn after the actual facial.

"[The LED part] is one of the last steps in [my] facial process," Darden explained to US Weekly. The skin care expert further explained that the mask is actually using a combination of other colors.

"The mask uses a combination of red and blue light to combat aging and acne. Red light boosts collagen, which plumps skin and helps dissipate wrinkles, and the blue light kills bacteria that creates acne," Darden further explained.

"This mask is unique because you can use both the blue and red light either on their own, or simultaneously (pink light). You could do the treatment everyday, but for best results, once a week is ideal," the expert said.

The reason why Alba called this an "emergency session" is because the procedure acts almost immediately. "LED facials are great to get right before events because they do a fantastic job at taming breakouts and giving the face a radiant glow," Darden said. She, however, warned that only an esthetician should operate the LED light therapy treatment.

InStyle editorial assistant Grace Gavilanes wrote about her experience in trying out the facial treatment. "I noticed a major difference in my skin complexion. My skin felt smoother and was noticeably clearer," she wrote. But as for having it regularly as a facial regimen, Gavilanes said she would have to have it as a "go-to before special occasions" because of its price tag: $195 for 50 minutes and $125 for 30 minutes.

If photos taken by Daily Mail are anything to go by, the LED light therapy treatment works in magical way. Daily Mail has just spotted Alba out and about without make up. She was even sweaty after a workout. She was just wearing a white tank top with mandala-style patterns, black leggings and flip-flops. Nevertheless, the mother of two girls and owner of the Honest Company, looks amazing.
