Who could IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brook possibly be facing next?

The answer to that will officially be known this coming Wednesday when Brook reveals the name of his opponent live via Sky Sports News.

It remains to be seen who Brook name as his opponent though there is strong belief that it will be Diego Chaves. Brook last fought in May where he defeated countryman Frank Gavin via TKO in six rounds.

On the other hand, potential opponent Diego Chaves last fought in December, 2014 against Timothy Bradley Jr. where both battled to a Split Draw.

Brook was originally in talks to face off against Brandon Rios but negotiations bogged down. Issues concerned about money and a rematch clause hindered the fight from happening.

Rios has since moved and could be possibly facing Timothy Bradley Jr. this coming November.

With Rios out, Brook was left hanging without an opponent though all that could be filled up soon.

Brook could be in for a tough night against Chaves, a no non-sense brawler that could put Brook’s technical approach (and patience) to the test.

Though Chaves is not a poor choice, there are some who feel that Brook’s choice may not necessarily push Brook to the proper niche which could line him up against bigger fights.

Brook has had his eye on Amir Khan and the southpaw did mention before that before he even considers Brook, he needs to fight big name fighters. Against Chaves, that doesn’t seem to fall in that niche.

Hence, it remains to be seen what and who Eddie Hearn has in mind for Brook. If it is indeed Chaves, the word around is that Brook will be fighting once more in December. That move would satisfy Hearn’s earlier Twitter rant that Brook will be making four title defences in a year.

If not Chaves, there is another guy who is interested in Kell Brook as well – Shane Mosley.

The comebacking Mosley is coming off a sixth round knockout win over rival Ricardo Mayorga during the weekend. Mosley doesn’t exactly fall into the big names in the boxing circle today but the 43-year-old former boxing champion.

With the timing in consideration, it is unlikely that Mosley will be the chosen one to face Brook this coming October. But then again if Hearn is indeed serious about setting up another tiff this December, Mosley could be a choice though don’t be surprised if Brook and company go for younger fighters still available by that time.
