Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Update: Verizon's Latest Build Leaks For Download

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update has already released on two wireless networks, Sprint and T-Mobile, here in the United States. Galaxy S3 users on the nation's two largest networks, Verizon and AT&T, however, are still in the dark as to when they will receive their Jelly Bean upgrades. A new ROM leak indicates that Verizon's shouldn't be too far off. 

Thanks to XDADevelopers user open1your1eyes0, Android junkies can pick up Android 4.1.1 build VRBLK1. This version has a build date of November 15, meaning it is the latest of the Verizon Jelly Bean firmware leaks. The poster states that this is a near-final build of Jelly Bean for Verizon Galaxy S3s and this could only mean that Verizon may just about be done fine-tuning the upgrade. 

Since this is not an official build, but rather an early leak, the build will not be as stable as an official Android update. If you aren't experienced with flashing Android devices, bear in mind that your Galaxy S3 could brick (freeze and lock up) during the process and there is a good chance your warranty will be voided. Only attempt to flash the ROM if you are well aware of the consequences - losing a smartphone to impatience such as the Galaxy S3 would be a shame. 

Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean introduces Google Now, a voice assistant similar to Siri, and Project Butter, which improves the performance and fluidity of the operating system. Google has already released Android 4.1.2 and Android 4.2 for Google-branded devices. 

Samsung is currently working on both Android 4.1.2 and Android 4.2 builds for the Galaxy S3, according to reports. Android 4.1.2 could roll out as early as December, and Android 4.2 is expected sometime in Q1 2013. These updates will be for unlocked variants, so those with carrier-locked Galaxy S3s will still have to wait the extra time until the update comes to them.
