Techies on the lookout for a new iPhone 5 directly from Apple's online store are in luck, as the estimated shipping date has been reduced to two to three weeks.
Now that the Cupertino-based company is finally catching up with consumer demand, options are opening up for customers to secure the latest entry in Apple's line of coveted smartphones.
According to CNET, "Prior to [the latest estimate], buyers had been looking at a ship time of three to four weeks since preorders for the new iPhone kicked off in mid-September."
If you would rather not wait for the device to be shipped, Apple runs an iPhone 5 reservation system which allows customers to order the product between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. the night before they wish to pick up their handset. The system operates on a first come, first serve basis.
Carriers for the iPhone 5, such as Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T, are also selling the device on their official websites.
The iPhone 5 is feather-light and takes the record for the thinnest smartphone Apple has ever made. The device shows up the iPhone 4S with a 4-inch screen that displays at 1136 x 640 pixels, a brand new A6 chip, and an ultra-thin touch pad that sharpens feedback to user input.
Prospective device owners who sign a two-year contract with Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint will have the option of a 16GB iPhone 5 at $199, a 32GB at $299.99, and a 64GB at $399.99. Unlocked phones sans-contract cost $649, 749, and $849 for each respective size, according to a recent leak.
