The new Asus ZenFone Max was launched at the ZenFestival event in India. The midrange smartphone model offers a number of great features, including a huge 5,000mAh battery.
The Asus Zenfone Max will appeal to users looking for longer battery life. Many smartphones today can last one day or more. However, these are still not the same as regular feature phones that can keep running for an entire week without recharging. The Asus Zenfone Max focuses on longer use by presenting a giant 5,000mAh battery.
Majority of smartphones with 2,000 to 3,000mAh batteries can last approximately one day, so depending on use, the Asus Zenfone Max might last one and a half to two days. Asus also stated that the smartphone can double as a power bank to recharge other devices.
Aside from the longer battery life, the Asus Zenfone Max features a 5.5-inch IPS display, with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 with 267 pixels per inch, protected by the new Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The handset will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz, and 2GB of RAM. The slower chipset will most likely help the device save more battery. The model has a 13-megapixel rear camera with laser-autofocus and dual-LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front shooter. The two cameras have wide f/2.0 aperture. The Zenfone Max will also have 8GB or 16GB of expandable internal storage, dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE network support, 3G with HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS. The internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The product will run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, layered with Asus’ own ZenUI, based on a report by Tech Times.
"The highlight of the new ZenFone Max (ZC550KL) is its incredibly-long-lasting high-capacity 5000 mAh lithium-polymer battery that gives users an unprecedented amount of mobile freedom," according to the Asus press release.
The Asus Zenfone Max has a battery life that has almost twice as powerful as the current flagships. The Samsung Galaxy Note boasts of a 3,220mAh battery, the LG G4 has a 3,000mAh battery, the iPhone 6 Plus has a 2,915mAh battery and the Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 2,550mAh battery. Users who are looking for midrange specifications and features and long battery life will certainly appreciate this new device.
The Asus Zenfone Max is expected to be launched worldwide. The smartphone is set to become available in October 2015.
