The Sony Xperia Z5 is rumored to come out soon. The smartphone will reportedly feature solar charging.

Android Headlines wrote that the Xperia Z5 is expected to be introduced at IFA 2015 in September. The Z5, as well as the Xperia Z5 Compact, were earlier revealed to feature micro USB, sporting standard microUSB connectors. It may mean that USB Type-C support will not be included, although users can still enjoy QuickCharge capability. Other users hope that wireless charging would become available in the next flagship.

There were also new concept images from Twitter leaksterViziLeaks, showing that the device will also have solar charging capabilities. The images were made by Victor Cao, with the tagline “The First Solar-powered Charging smartphone”.

The new leak also showed that the Xperia Z5 will be available in mint, silver and champagne gold. There will be no black version, however. The product is also fully aluminum with no glass, but still IP68 certified. The smartphone in the images was mint, with a 5.5-inch QHD Triluminous display and Sense ID power button. Qualcomm created the new Sense ID fingerprint sensor which makes use of ultrasounds. The new sensor will be housed in the power button. There is also a new 21.5-megapixel IMX213 camera sensor. The handset is also rumored to launch with Android M pre-installed. The leak also showed that the Z5 will have USB Type-C support. Overall, the images are mere concepts and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Techno Buffalo reported that the design is not expected to deviate much from its predecessors. The button appeared to be larger, most likely to properly house the new sensor. The volume controls have also adjusted lower towards the base of the phone. The Xperia Z5 is expected to feature 4GB of RAM, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, a 20.7-megapixel camera and a 4,500mAh battery. The Z5 Compact might have several similar specifications but showcase a smaller but thicker body.

In the leaked images, the screen of the Z5 Compact presented a tutorial teaching users how to press their thumb on the power button to properly have the device identify it. The bigger Xperia Z5 featured a setup with a few thumb presses already in place.

The retail price of the Sony Xperia Z5 has not yet been confirmed, although there are talks that it might cost around $1,000 to $1,100 at launch. More news and confirmations are expected at IFA 2015.
