At last, the long wait is finally over. Fans of the Disney and Square Enix crossover game rejoiced when "Kingdom Hearts III" was announced at the E3 2015. To increase the excitement of the fans, a trailer was shown which blew the collective minds of everyone in attendance that day. With Gamescom 2015 well on its way, will the highly-anticipated game make another appearance?

Recent reports suggest that "Kingdom Hearts III" will not show up on Gamescom, which is held from Aug. 5 to Aug. 9. Disappointing as it may seem, there is a bit of hope for eager fans of the series. According to the Square Enix German blog, Yoko Shimomura will be attending a meet and greet event with fans. Even though the fair is free for anyone who wishes to attend, only 50 people will get the rare honor to meet this legendary music composer for video games. Dubbed as "the most famous female video game composer in the world," Yoko Shimomura formulated unforgettable music from iconic video games such as "Front Mission," "Legend of Mana," "Heroes of Mana" and the "Kingdom Hearts" series.

In a way, "Kingdom Hearts III" still makes an appearance on Gamescom with Shimomura the meeting fans. The sad news is that there will be nothing new revealed about the game.

On the bright side, director Tetsuya Nomura gave some insights on the progress of the video game. According to OPM UK, Nomura-san told the magazine: "For the most part we've established the ground foundations, like the basic systems and mechanics of what's going to go in the game. Development of that is pretty much close to complete. But of course, since this is an HD title, it's now building the resources, and development of the 'mass' elements of it, like mass production of the areas and the actual things that are going into the game."

"Other elements, including the mini-games and other various smaller items; their progress is very varied," the director added. Nomura went on to say, "Some of them are polished and very close to final state, but at the same time some elements are still in the planning phase and I haven't laid out the groundwork yet. But the basic structure of what's going to go in the game is set, it's now a matter of mass production of the different elements."

With Nomura's update about the game's progress and Shimomura's appearance for Gamescom 2015, it would be safe to say that the long-awaited third instalment will have a release date soon.

Gamescom is held at Cologne, Germany. The Disney event, D3 Expo 2015, kicks off on Aug. 14 and ends on Aug. 16.
