Pictures of a baby kangaroo, otherwise known as a joey, hugging a teddy bear for comfort has been spreading around the Internet like wildfire.

The joey, adorably named Doodlebug, is an orphaned kangaroo that was found by Gillian Abbott a caretaker of orphaned wildlife. The Week reports that pictures of Doodlebug started to spread after the son of Abbott, Tim Beshara, posted snaps of him on Twitter.

The caption on the tweet reads that his mom, a wildlife care specialist, sent him the picture to show that there is always value behind a good hug even for an orphaned wallaby. The picture itself is very cute, while the caption does have some misinformation since Doodlebug is a young eastern grey kangaroo and not a wallaby. When told about the mistake, Beshara was embarrassed especially since he has a background in science.

Doodlebug, as well as other animals rescued, seem to have responded well to the stuffed teddy bear toys that Gillian hangs around the yard, Beshara shares. Beshara also goes on to say that he is happy that Doodlebug has found a companion that he can latch on to. According to Beshara, the joey responds to the toy in a similar fashion a human toddler would.

According to Daily Mail, there is no word on what exactly happened to Doodlebug's mother. Beshara has several theories on what could have happened to Doodlebug. One such theory is that the baby kangaroo simply fell out of his mother's pouch before finding his way to Abbot's wildlife reserve. Doodlebug was found in very poor shape and was nursed back to health thanks to the work of Abbott and her crew.

Beshara is also rather delighted that the news of Doodlebug has gone onto almost viral status. The adviser to Tasmanian Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson has gone on to say that he wasn't surprised that many in Australia would get the news of Doodlebug, but he would have never have thought that the pictures would go on to be shown in countries such as Russia and the United States.

Currently, Doodlebug is still living on the wildlife reserve that Abbott owns in New South Wales, Australia. The joey is seen to be in good health with no signs of distress or discomfort. While there is still no news on how his sudden fame has affected Doodlebug, this is for certain: we'll all hold our teddies a little closer tonight.
