As expected, Ronda Rousey annihilated Bethe Corriea, needing only 34 seconds to retain her UFC Women’s bantamweight title at UFC 190 held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The win pushed Rousey to 12-0 as she continues to dominate her division but most of all render payback for Correia who made the fight personal with her tactless ‘suicide’ tweet towards Rousey.

Rousey used the tweet as a motivational factor to pound on the PitBull. The champion unleashed a barrage of punches towards Correia, ending up in a clean knockout in just 34 seconds. Rousey was a 19 to 1 favorite over Corriea and she apparently proved why.

With the win over Correia now in the record books, it remains to be seen who Rousey will face next.

But the word out is that Rousey is interested in facing Miesha Tate once more, a third showdown between the two female UFC fighters. And if negotiations fall through, Rousey vs. Tate could happen in December as perhaps another card in the planned Jose Aldo vs. Connor McGregror match.

Rousey and Tate first faced off on March 3, 2012, where Tate made a good account of herself against an aggressive Rousey. After a grappling exchange, Rousey was able to win after applying an armbar forcing Tate to submit before the first round ended.

The win allowed Rousey to win the bantamweight champion. Tate was criticized at that time when she risked possible long-term damage on her arm.

Tate could have incurred a serious injury (dislocated arm) when she tried valiantly to resist Rousey’s armbar hold.

The two would meet again at UFC 168 on December 28, 2013 where Rousey once again won via submission at the 58-second mark of the third round.

Regardless of her defeat, that performance makes Tate the only opponent to last more than one round. All other opponents that Rousey has faced have never gone beyond the first round, Correia being the latest to join that list.

With the history between the two and Tate’s standing, it thus makes sense why Rousey would be open to meeting her for the third time. That and of course the fact that Tate is the most qualified among the fighters in the 135-pound category.

If not for Tate, there is another name being floated, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino. But the thing is, ‘Cyborg’ seems to be hooked up in a lot of complications to make their match materialize.

One is UFC president Dana White reiterated that he wants Justino to fight once before she can face off with Rousey.

“The fight’s there for ‘Cyborg.’ She can make 145 pumped full of steroids. She can move down to 135 without ‘em. I’m not going anywhere” says Rousey via the Los Angeles Times.
