The Dallas Mavericks continue to fill up the void in their center position after that celebrated fallout with DeAndre Jordan and the latest word is that the Mavs are planning to add JaVale McGee to the fold.

McGee garnered interest from several teams ever since the February NBA trade deadline though no team has actually made headway signing the athetlic center. He has been known as someone who can bring energy and be of big help on the defensive end. His best years came when he was still with the Washington Wizards (2008-12) before he was traded to the Denver Nuggets (2011-2014).

His last stop was with the Philadelphia 76ers where he was shipped for the rights to Chukwudiebere Maduabum and a 2015 first round pick. He played only six games before being waived in March 1, 2015.

What makes the whole thing interesting is that while the Mavs are seemingly loading up with big men for training camp, not all are likely to make the final roster

Aside from McGee, Samuel Dalembert was also signed to another possible tour of duty. The 34-year-old player signed a one year deal worth $1.4 million deal as the Mavs try to find the right man to fill in their gaping center position.

Dalembert played for the Mavs in the 2013-14 season before being dealt to the New York Knicks last summer in exchange for Tyson Chandler.

Apart from Dalembert, the Mavs also signed two free agents from the Summer League – Jarrid Famous and Maurice Ndour to beef up their frontline. Salah Mejri of Turkey is likely to be signed as well, rendering a pretty crowded group of guys who will take part in the Mavs training camp.

Napier set to join the Magic

In another development, Shabazz Napier could end up playing for the Orlando Magic next season.

Napier is among the list of players that the Heat were placing on the trading block and the 24th overall draft pick of the 2014 NBA Draft, someone that Lebron James wanted the Heat to draft until he eventually opted to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The deal hasn’t been made official yet and once finalized, the Magic will send a protected 2016 second round pick to Miami.

The move would save the Heat $4.5 million in salary and luxury taxes, somewhat a big help for Pat Riley and the Heat as they try to avoid becoming the first team to pay the penal repeater tax for the coming season.
