In the latest news regarding SWAT teams operating around the country, news outlets are reporting that the newest secret weapon for SWAT teams is not so secret anymore.

Called 'Recon Scout Throwbot (RST)', the dumbbell shaped robot is a heavy duty portable reconnaissance camera SWAT team members may toss or throw towards potentially hostile or dangerous locations.

More than a weapon, the RST is a non-lethal tool operated via remote control that functions as a troop's second pair of eyes.

"The Recon Scout helps you explore hostile or dangerous environments by providing real-time mission-critical reconnaissance video that enables your teams to act quickly, safely and decisively," states its website.

It could potentially be used in hostage situations for example where it is deemed to risky to confront perpetrators personally but may provide authorities with vital information to conduct a mission successfully.
