There are rumors that the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 model will finally become available in October 2015. The tablet/laptop will reportedly showcase the new Intel Skylake processor, as well as the upcoming Windows 10 operating system.

Rumors initially circulated that Microsoft made a huge order of the 256GB solid state drives (SSD) from Samsung Electronics, which will purportedly be used for the new Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Components are said to be shipped in large volumes beginning September and the product will officially launch in the market in October 2015. According to unnamed sources, about 500,000 to 600,000 units of the Surface Pro 4 will be shipped every month. The consumer demand for tablets is gradually decreasing, but Microsoft still sees the potential of offering 2-in-1 devices, which may shape the market in the long run, according to a report by DigiTimes.

DigiTimes added that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will feature an ultra-thin design and a large display. It will also have the same bezel size as its predecessor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. The two most anticipated features include the new Intel Skylake processor and the new Windows 10 OS. The tablets will be manufactured by Pegatron Technology. The camera module will be provided by Largan Precision and Newmax. The tablet will feature a magnesium-aluminum alloy unibody chassis, made by JuTeng International. Taisol Electronics and Chaun-Choung Technology (CCI) will be responsible for the cooling modules. The sources said that ITE Tech, Winbond and Realtek will supply the chips for the new device.

Tech Times reported that the design of the Surface Pro 4 will not deviate much from its predecessor. It will have a 12-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels and up to 16GB of RAM, which will significantly improve processing speed. Some people expect Microsoft to feature 1TB internal storage on the new device, considering how the Surface Pro 3 offered a 500GB model. The price, official release date and additional specifications and capabilities have not yet been announced by the company. The Surface Pro 3 retailed at $799, so the upcoming tablet might come at around the same price.

Earlier in July, Microsoft confirmed that it plans to introduce new Windows 10 hardware models at the IFA 2015 in September in Berlin, Germany. The mobile devices were not specifically mentioned, but fans are looking forward to get more details at the Microsoft event titled “Windows 10 Lights Up New Devices” at the German trade show on September 4, 2015.
