Montpelier has its back against the wall heading in Piraeus to take on Olympiakos.

With the combination of a loss and an Arsenal win or draw with Schalke 04, Montpelier will be unable to qualify for the round of 16 in the UCL. After winning the French League last season, this team has faltered greatly. They currently languish in 14th place on the table with three wins, three draws, and five losses.

A year ago when they took first place, they only suffered defeat six times in 38 matches. With just 11 games played to date, that feat is likely not going to be repeated. The most decisive factor is defense. Last season they claimed the title by allowing just 34 goals; they have already conceded 16 times in less than half of the games. The good news for Montpelier is that they will be playing on the road on Tuesday. They drew against Schalke in their only road match of the UCL thus far and have been better away from home in the French League with two wins, one draw, and three losses.

Olympiakos will look to build on their win over Montpelier from two weeks ago in front of their home fans. The top team in Greece has been a defensive and offensive powerhouse with five goals against in nine matches (including five clean sheets) and 22 goals in favor.

Two weeks ago they won in the final moments of the match against Montpelier after trailing 1-0 for much of the match. Considering that the two group favorites are facing off, Olympiakos has a chance to pick up vital points with a win. If Schalke and Arsenal draw and the Greeks win, they will be two points behind first place and one behind second. If Schalke wins and Olympiakos does also, then they will secure a draw for second with Arsenal. If the other result occurs in the Arsenal-Schalke match, then they will be one point behind second and three behind first. Either way, Olympiakos has a prime chance to close the gap on what looks to be a tight group.

Prediction: Olympiakos will have an outstanding home performance. 3-0 win for the Greek side.

Start Time: 2:45 p.m. EST
