Floyd Mayweather, Amir Khan Fight Finally Happening? News Updates & Rumors Here!

Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s next opponent for September could likely be Amir Khan if a recent report holds true.

A report from Mirror reveals that Amir Khan had a colorful conversation with Floyd Mayweather, Sr. as the two discussed via Facetime a possible tiff this coming September.

According to Khan, Mayweather, Sr. was his usual self, boasting that his son (Floyd Jr.) could easily defeat him. Khan says he replies by simply saying that “if that’s the case, then let’s get a fight made."

Unfortunately, his seemingly humbling remarks were taken in the wrong way and the elder Mayweather reportedly went nuts about his response, adding Floyd, Sr. went all crazy and that lots of swearing were thrown his way.

Khan claims he has a video of the whole conversation and added that while he has not posted it, he will do so soon.

"I did get under his skin. He knows I am the guy to maybe beat his son. He doesn’t like the fight between me and Floyd because he knows I could cause him big problems.” He went as far as posting a picture with a giant glove, mocking Mayweather to get into the ring with him.

Though nothing has been made official, Khan seems to be the only worthy fighter Floyd Mayweather could face as he reportedly claims that it would be the last fight of his career.

For Khan, he believes that Mayweather is afraid of him. The current negotiations are actually the second one between the two camps.

Back in 2014, there were plans for Khan and Mayweather to get it on. However, the date of the fight became a problem (September 13) due to religious reasons (Ramadan). Khan was concerned about having ample time to prepare so Mayweather chose to fight Marcos Maidana instead.

Curiously, the fight will be set again in September. Initially there were fears that it could be a déjà vu of the 2014 negotiations though Khan says that because the Muslim Festival would end earlier this year (July 17), he will have ample time to prepare for Mayweather.

Though Mayweather has had the knack of holding out until the last minute, Khan believes that the fight will push through.

Aside from his conversation with Floyd Sr., both fighters are managed by supremo Al Haymon which he believes will help would smoothen negotiations.

Khan is coming off a unanimous decision win over Chris Algieri last May 29 while Mayweather hacked out a unanimous decision win over Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao last May 2.

Though Mayweather claims that it will be his last fight, there are some who believe that he could fight one more time next year against Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao is currently recovering from shoulder surgery which will keep him out of the boxing ring at least until early 2016.
