'Game of Thrones' Star Kit Harrington Talks Jon Snow's Death

The question on the minds of many loyal fans of the "Game of Thrones" television series this season is: Did Jon Snow really die?

The answer to that particular question might not be well received by those who have been closely following the show. But let's take it back for a moment and have a quick recap on Jon Snow's "demise."

Since being voted as the new Lord Commander of the Night's Watch at the start of the season, Jon Snow has been what you can call the most well-liked person at Castle Black. He has made several less than popular decisions as the Lord Commander, and when he allowed wildlings through the gates of Castle Back into Westeros, he was then labeled a traitor by his fellow Night's watchmen.

The scene of Jon Snow's death is also very touching, with several important Night's Watch members stabbing Snow just as the season comes to close, with his steward Olly dealing the last and fatal blow.

As Jon Snow now lays dead on the cold ground of Westeros, many are left wondering if the character will be back for season six. The answer as of right now, unfortunately, is no.

Kit Harrington, the actor who plays Jon Snow, recently stated in an interview with NY Daily News, "I'm quite dead. It's over for Jon Snow - at the very least, he gets to join his family and kin and leave this terrible world behind."

According to Harrington, he has been told by the show's producers that that character is dead and that he will not be coming back next season.

When asked what he felt about the progression of his character to this point, Harrington replied, "There's a real loneliness at the end for Jon Snow. His greatest fault lies in the fact that while he's trying to deal with the horror headed in their direction, he's neglected to see the politics around him."

Currently in the books, however, Jon Snow's fate is yet to be known. While he was stabbed by his Night's Watch brothers, it is yet to be determined if he is actually dead. The book's author, George R.R. Martin, has said in the past that it was his intention to allow Jon to survive to the end of the story. How the show's events have influenced that decision remains to be seen.
