James Cameron revamps the classic sci-fi "Terminator" series with the upcoming "Terminator Genisys" movie.

In an earlier screening, some critics claimed that the upcoming "Terminator" movie is the "real" third installment of the sci-fci classic. Three-time Oscar winner James Cameron officially endorsed the upcoming reboot series, reported Yahoo News.

The report added that fans that are having second thoughts whether "Genisys" will be good should have enough reason to watch out for the film.

"I had no idea what to expect sitting down. I wasn't involved in the making of the film. I didn't direct it. I didn't write it. I'm just a fanboy. I'm in a dark theater. The movie starts, and I start to see things that I recognize. It's being very respectful of the first two films. Then all of a sudden, it just swerves, and now I'm going on a journey," Cameron said.

The "Titanic" and "Avatar" director went as far as calling "Genisys" as the "third film." It should be noted that "Terminator: Rise of the Machines" did not really do well in the cinemas, nor did it have enough power to leave the fans raving about it.

Screen Rant website said that the upcoming "Genisys" movie took the film back to its roots therefore leaving positive notes with regards to marketing. Cameron also noted that he considers the new movie as a "renaissance."

"I feel like the franchise has been reinvigorated, like this is a renaissance. You look at why the films became classics. They had characters that you like. In the new film - which in my mind I think of as the third film - we see Arnold take the character even farther. ... The idea of taking John Connor and flipping him to the bad guy. It's pretty cool because you've got to riff against expectations. It's all about the twist,"Cameron noted.

Meanwhile, Cinema Blend quoted Cameron saying that the first installment of the movie was successful because of a character that the audience liked. They plan to bring that "magic" again with "Genisys."

"If you look at why the films became classics, they had characters that you liked. The new film, which, in my mind, I think of as the third film, we see Arnold take the character even farther," he stated.

"Terminator Genisys" stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney and a lot more. It is directed by Alan Taylor and screenplay written by no less than James Cameron, Anne Hurd, Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis.

It is set for release on July 1 in the USA.
