This year has been a major breakthrough year for Samsung, with the success of the Galaxy S3 smartphone, the Galaxy tablets, and the Galaxy Note 2 giving Apple a run for its money. Now, Samsung has announced that sales of the Galaxy S3 has passed 30 million units ahead of time, according to SamMobile.
This means that the Galaxy S3 has sold 30 million units in five months. The Galaxy S3 sold 10 million units in less than two months, and then passed the 20 million mark back in September. Samsung had expected to sell 30 million by the end of 2012, and it looks like they beat out their own estimate.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 launched in the United States back in June. The initial releases were staggered across the five carriers AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular. The smartphone released to high demand, and was quite hard to get in the beginning, and is the first smartphone to actually put a sizable dent in the Apple's mobile market share.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is also available through C-Spire and MetroPCS. The smartphone sports a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and 4G LTE where available. It's most commonly found in Marble White and Pebble Blue. The Galaxy S3 also has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera.

Samsung also announced that over 3 million Galaxy Note 2s have been sold in the one month since its release. The Galaxy Note 2 only recently launched stateside through T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Sprint. AT&T and Verizon will be releasing the Galaxy Note 2 in the coming weeks.
