The latest swing state polls conducted in Wisconsin reveal a very tight race between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. According to Rasmussen Reports, the candidates are tied but a poll released by NBC/the Wall Street Journal/Marist College shows Obama leads by a three-point margin.

The Rasmussen Reports, which was released on Thursday, found that the candidates were tied among Wisconsin voters at 49 percent. According to the swing state poll, another two percent of voters were undecided about which candidate they supported.

Obama and Romney were tied in Rasmussen's last Wisconsin election poll, again at 49 percent. Rasmussen reported that Obama won Wisconsin's electoral votes in 2008 by a 56 percent to 42 percent margin.

In contrast, the NBC/WSJ/Marist poll found that Obama was leading among Wisconsin likely and registered voters by a slight margin. Among likely voters the president is ahead of his GOP challenger, 49 percent to 46 percent. The margin is somewhat larger among registered voters, 49 percent for Obama and 45 percent for Romney.

President Obama has held a small advantage over Romney in Wisconsin based on recent election polls there. According to calculations by RealClearPolitics, Obama is ahead by a 3.7-point margin. The state has voted blue in the last two elections, giving Obama a 13.9-point win in 2008 and John Kerry a 0.4-point win in 2004.

The NBC/WSJ/Marist poll also questioned registered voters as to when they planned to vote. It found that 25 percent planned to vote early or by absentee ballot and 65 percent planned to vote on Election Day. Another 10 percent of registered voters were unsure of how they planned to cast their ballots.

The poll, which was also released on Thursday, found that Obama's approval rating among likely and registered voters has not changed in the past two weeks, staying steady at 49 percent. His disapproval rating among Wisconsin likely and registered voters, however, has dropped by one point, 45 percent and 44 percent respectively.

Despite strong leanings towards Obama, the election race in Wisconsin remains unclear. The latest electoral college votes prediction by Latinos Post shows Wisconsin, and its 10 electoral votes, firmly in the tossup column.
