There is speculation that the official launch date of "Kingdom Hearts 3" might have been predicted by "Kingdom Hearts 2."

GameRanx wrote that YouTube user Cynnical has a theory that the release date of "Kingdom Hearts 3" may have already been revealed by its predecessor.

In the video, The Gamers Joint showed a young version of Seifer Almasy talking to Sora. Seifer generally does not like Sora but will provide a Struggle Trophy if players defeat the Nobodies that attack his gang. In one of the dialogue trees, Seifer talked to Sora about his disdain for the latter, specifically because of his power. Seifer went on to tell Sora to return after 10 years.

The decade cited by Seifer in the 2006 game might be a clue that the next installment of "Kingdom Hearts" will be launched at a definite time in the future. However, it can merely refer to Seifer hinting about his age in the game. Seifer is 18 years old in "Final Fantasy 8," so he was most likely only 8 years old in "Kingdom Hearts 2".

Cynnical proceeded to present the release dates of "Kingdom Hearts 2" in various countries. The game was first released in Japan on December 22, 2005. It was next released in North America on March 28, 2006. The game was launched in Australia on September 28, 2006, then in Europe the next day. The Final Mix was launched in Japan on March 29, 2007.

Game developer Square Enix, announced during E3 2013 that "Kingdom Hearts 3" was in the works and will be playable on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Tetsuya Nomura was withdrawn from "Final Fantasy 15" to become the lead developer of "Kingdom Hearts 3." However, it is unlikely that the company would be ready to launch the game, if it would truly be released 10 years after any of the five given dates.

Christian Today reported that although "Kingdom Hearts 3" was not unveiled at the 2014 E3, Square Enix is expected to provide more details about the upcoming game at the 2015 E3 in June. Lead developer Nomura said that they will feature the game at the 2015 D23 Expo in Japan.

Nomura stated, "We have some interesting things planned. There will be Kingdom Hearts 3 news, and various things, I think. Development on Kingdom Hearts 3 is going smoothly, but there will also be new announcements connected to it."
