HTC fans have largely been left out of the loop with most current news focusing on the current Android sweetheart, Samsung. The HTC One X was one of the first competent Android smartphones that could compete with the Apple iPhone, and now we have some good news for those who bought one - Android Jelly Bean is on the way.
The news comes via to us via GottaBeMobile, which refers to a post on XDADevelopers that states an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update has begun rolling out in Taiwan.
It seems that as of now, the update is confined to HTC's homecourt of Taiwan, but expect the update to begin launching other markets, including the United States, before the end of 2012. The update is pegged at around 350MB, meaning the improvements should be substantial.
Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is the latest version of Google's operating system. It fixes some bugs in Android 4.1.1, as well as adding several nifty little features. This should be comforting for HTC One X owners who will get the latest Android version while many Galaxy S3 owners are just receiving their Android 4.1.1 update.
The only bad news is that Google seems to be planning on releasing Android 4.2 soon. Google is holding a press event on October 29 where it should unveil a new LG Nexus 4 smartphone, a 32GB Nexus 7, a Google-Samsung Nexus 10 tablet, and Android 4.2.
The HTC One X comes with a 4.7-inch super LCD 2 display with a resolution of 1280X720. The international version comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, while the U.S. LTE model sports a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
The HTC handset also has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, making this smartphone still one of the most technically sound around.
