One man has been arrested after he walked into a prayer service at a megachurch in Georgia and opened fire, killing one person.

Police say Floyd Palmer, 52, walked into televangelist Creflo Dollar's church in the Atlanta area and opened fire during a Wednesday prayer service.

CNN says the man who was killed was a volunteer staff member and was leading the service at World Changers Church International in College Park, Ga. when he was killed. CNN says about 20 people were in the room when the shooting took place.

After running from authorities, Palmer was arrested at Lenox Mall in the Buckhead neighborhood, 25 miles away from the church.

The victim's name has not yet been released. The 39-year-old volunteer was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, News One says. Afternoon church service was canceled.

Police said Palmer had resigned from his job at the church in August. They don't know if he specifically targeted the victim or if it was a random shooting. Police told CNN that Palmer entered the building "calmly" and left calmly.

The shooter is described as a black male in his early 30s wearing a suit and tie.

"Why would anyone want to hurt the church?" said Adolph Hanley, 66, of College Park, who has attended the church for two years. "That's the devil's work."

CNN says the church has about 30,000 members.
