Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean Release Date: Who Has It And When The U.S. Can Expect It

Millions of Samsung Galaxy S3 users are finally getting what they've been waiting for: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The update began rolling out earlier this month, but due to the Android ecosystem, has been staggered and delayed in many parts of the world. If you're wondering where your country stands on this list, here's the rundown. 

Website YouMobile keeps a wonderful updated list of Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean updates worldwide. According to YouMobile, 17 countries worldwide have received Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S3. 

Here's a list of the 17 countries in case you're in one of them and haven't checked for your update: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

As usual, the United States is still on the waitlist thanks mostly to our carriers. The reason for this is that once Google develops a new Android, manufacturers such as Samsung then take the time to tailor the operating system to a specific device before sending it out to carriers for approval and distribution. Those with unlocked phones get the update straight from Samsung, while those tied to carriers have to wait for Verizon or AT&T to fill the update with bloatware before a release. 

Samsung has recently stated that the U.S. Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 will arrive in the coming months, and the official Samsung update page still lists it as "Coming Soon!" The best guess is that it will land stateside sometime before the end of 2012.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has improved performance and visuals thanks to Project Butter. It also introduces Google Now, a voice assistant not unlike Siri, and more actionable notifications.
