Microsoft is offering buyers the opportunity to upgrade to Office 2013 if they purchase an existing product between now and April 2013.

The offer works by purchasing, installing and activating a qualifying Office 2010 product from now until April 2013. Those who purchased the product can receive a free upgrade.

Buyers must keep their sales receipt and provide Microsoft with an email address. Once the new version becomes available, Microsoft will send an invite to sign up. The offer expires in May 2013.

Qualifying office products include 2010 version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook and Publisher. Click here to view a full list.

"This is the most ambitious release of Office we've ever done," a press release from Microsoft read. "It spans the full family of Office applications, servers and cloud services. The new Office has a fresh, touch friendly design that works beautifully on Windows 8 and unlocks modern scenarios in social, reading, note-taking, meetings and communications. We are proud to achieve this milestone and are eager to deliver this exciting release to our customers."

The Verge reported statements from Microsoft product manager Petr Bobek, who said the product will be available for commercial use in December and for personal use in February 2013. He also said Office 2013 will be available on Android and iOS in March 2013.

"In addition to Windows, Office will also be available on other operating systems, Windows Phone, Windows RT, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Symbian. Office 365 services and other Office products for mobile (phones and tablets) will be released from March 2013," read a press release from Microsoft's Czech Republic office. "We have said previously Office mobile will work across Windows Phones, Android Phones and iOS," said a Microsoft spokesperson when The Verge inquired about Office's mobile availability.

But is any of this true? Microsoft released a statement denying those claims.

"The information shared by our Czech subsidiary is not accurate. We do not have anything further to share at this time," Microsoft said.
