Will upcoming game "Star Wars: Battlefront" be launched in time for cinematic release of the much-anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"?

The recent buzz has it that the game's release has been listed as December 10, 2015 by GameStop Italy - a date that the title's developer EA has not confirmed.

It's worth noting, though, that GameStop Italy had previously listed a release date for another game even before it was officially announced, "only to have that date removed," Fansided recalled.

"The incident occurred over the release of 'Rainbow Six: Siege,'" the site added.

Could this date be accurate? Or will this have the same consequence as "Rainbow Six"?

Such a release date could be feasible, as timing the game's release with the movie's cinematic showing is a clever move that would ramp up more publicity for both the game and the film.

However, there also are risks associated with such a timing, as some of the missions in "Battlefront" are those that could be seen in the movie itself.

"Assuming that this release date pans out, that could mean that this will be a HUGE year for the Star Wars franchise," Fansided speculated. "It would ensure that sales would be through the roof."

"Releasing a long anticipated, major title such as 'Star Wars: Battlefront' 2 full weeks before Christmas, could mean record shattering numbers. That is of course, this date is legit," the site went on to say.

Meanwhile, IGN previously speculated an April reveal of the said game, considering the fact that the title would be shown at the annual Star Wars Celebration, which runs from April 16 to 19 at Anaheim, California.

"When we spoke to the game's design director Niklas Fegraeus earlier this year, he confirmed the game's been shown to partners behind closed doors already, with the rest of the world getting to see more 'this spring.' An April reveal would certainly tally with this and, given a planned release for the end of this year, it surely can't be much longer before we see it in action," IGN said.

As already announced by EA, the game will be officially debuted at the said event next week.

In the run up to "Battlefront's" revelation, a lot of spoilers and rumors have made the rounds in cybersphere, with the most obvious ones being that the game's plot

"will span pretty much the entire Star Wars saga," according to Making Star Wars.

"The last section of the campaign takes place before and during the opening segments of 'The Force Awakens.' Don't expect anything too revealing, because the game is expected to ship about a month before the movie releases," the site went on to say.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters December 18 this year.
