This year has given consumers the widest variety of tablets and smartphones to date. Google even entered the tablet race, revealing an affordable 7-inch tablet that has become a bestseller. Now, the Nexus 7, which is available in 8GB and 16GB models will be getting a 32GB model that could go on sale as early as this week.

Website ITProPortal reports that a source close to U.K. retailer Argos has tipped them off to Google's new tablet.

"We've been told by someone with close links to Argos, the popular high street UK retailer, that the 32GB Nexus 7 will appear in its Christmas gift guide, which will be launched this week," says ITProPortal

The tablet is expected to sell around £199.99 (or $320) from Argos, and will apparently replace the current 16GB model. Google currently has the 8GB priced at $199 and the 16GB model at $249.

A higher-capacity 32GB Nexus 7 will be a welcome addition for consumers who have found the previous 8GB and 16GB models to be lacking in terms of storage capacity.

No specific specs have been released for the 32GB Nexus 7, but one can assume that it will retain the same components as the 8GB and 16GB versions.

The Nexus 7 tablet features a 1280X800 HD display that puts out 216 pixels per inch (ppi). A quad-core Tegra 3 processor powers the latest version of Android Jelly Bean. While there is no rear-facing camera, the budget tablet does come with a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The tablet does not have a 4G version, but does come equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities.

With its relatively affordable price tag, the Nexus 7 is a serious tablet contender. While it cannot offer the size or specs that a normal iPad does, the Nexus 7 tablet from Google is one of the best budget buys on the market. The fact that it's Google branded also means that the Nexus 7 always receives Android updates first, so if you're looking for a solid budget tablet, there isn't much else until Apple comes out with its iPad Mini.
